3 Tips to Keep Your Cool During Your Wedding Planning

flowers-1664733_960_720Your wedding day is one of the most special days of your entire life. You have dreamed about this day for as long as you can remember, and now you’re ready to plan it officially. What do you do when all of the excitement turns into anxiety because of meetings with caterers, photographers, and making decisions on your honeymoon? Here are three tips to help you keep your sanity during the hustle and bustle of all your wedding planning days.

Remember Your Groom

Don’t make them take a backseat to the planning. Be sure to include him in everything you’re doing, except the wedding dress shopping. He is there to help you through this and you must remember you’re not alone. Also, make sure you make time for you two to hang out together and talk about anything except for the wedding. You need to keep your connection and be together without wedding talk.

Make a Plan

Get yourself a plan together for the big day and all those days leading up to it. Surround yourself with your friends and family you know you can count on and delegate specific details to them. For example, have someone designated with a cell phone on the big day in case anyone is lost on the way to the venue. They have someone they can contact that is ready to help them get to your big day.

Consider a Hotel Stay

The night before your wedding rent a hotel room for you and just you. This will give you some time to yourself to relax, do Yoga if you want, or just breathe before the big day. Be sure to take care of yourself and make time for yourself. Then you’re sure to be ready to enjoy the day ahead!

Wedding is the most important day of your life and you would never want to compromise on your wedding preparations. However, if you are a little creative, then you can smartly curb down your wedding cost to some degree. Here are some of the ideas that can help you curb down your wedding cost.

A good wedding coordinator can save both your money and time: Though it may seem that wedding coordinators would cost you much, but actually they can save a portion of your money in the long run. A wedding coordinator can arrange huge amount of discounts from the vendors and there lies the profit in hiring them.

You can take a weekend course in wedding planning: If you want to do your wedding planning all by yourself, then you can take a weekend course. It would give you plenty of information and build up your confidence.

Choose the perfect flowers: Flowers do not cost much but arranging them in a fancy way costs a lot. You can easily save money here by choosing beautiful bridal flowers. You can choose non floral table centerpieces for your reception. Investing on floral centerpieces is wastage of money. However, you must invest on the flowers in the bouquet that would be carried by the bride and the bridesmaids.

You can avoid the custom printed invitations: Instead of expensive custom printed invitations, you can use a software to make the invitation cards yourself. Your guests won’t mind if you cannot give them custom printed invitations. So, here you can save some amount of money.

You can hire an aspiring singer: If your dream has been to hear a singer or a rock band at your wedding or if your partner loves music, then you can hire an aspiring singer who sings really well. In this way, you would be able to save your money as rock bands charge a lot and simultaneously, your wedding day would be musical. However, instead of going by someone’s words, make sure to hear the musician before hiring him or her.

Have some local knowledge and use it to your benefit: Explore the local shops and you would soon find the shops where you can bargain without hesitation. With the help of your local knowledge, you can get your wedding outfit, wedding cake, flowers and other stuff in reasonable price.

These are some ways through which you can curb down your wedding cost to some extent. There are plenty of hidden costs associated with a wedding and it would be great if you can cut few of them.

Tips for Planning an Amazing Rehearsal Dinner

Rehearsal dinners have become a standard part of Connecticut weddings. It is as expected as a funny story in the best man’s toast. So how do you make your rehearsal dinner a truly amazing event?

Choose the right venue

The right venue can make a big difference in the rehearsal dinner. It can be in any restaurant, but for an outstanding rehearsal dinner, look at what your wedding venue offers. If there’s a smaller venue that couldn’t accommodate your full guest list, why not have your rehearsal dinner there?

Add some entertainment

The best rehearsal dinners aren’t silent affairs. They have music, they have dancing, and they have a few toasts. This is a chance for you to celebrate with the members of your immediate family and wedding party, so enjoy it with great entertainment.

Have an end time

While it might seem like a great party should never end, this really isn’t the case on the night before your wedding. Remember that you and everyone at your rehearsal dinner will have to be up early to get ready for your wedding. A great rehearsal dinner won’t be remembered that way if everyone is exhausted and hungover on your wedding day.

What do you have planned for your rehearsal dinner? The Connecticut wedding vendors at our upcoming shows can help you plan something truly fantastic!

What Your Wedding Guests Can Expect

When you plan your wedding, it’s sometimes difficult to step back and think of things from your guests’ point of view. However, there are a few things that your guests can reasonably expect, and that you should do for them.

Send the invitation in a timely manner. You’ve had the date of your wedding marked on your calendar for ages, but your guests might still need to get time off from work, arrange for child care, and plan travel. Make sure they have enough time to do this and get good prices on everything. If you’ve sent a save the date card, make sure that everyone who received one is getting a formal invitation when they are ready to send, too!

Be clear about who is invited (and be ready to explain why). Are you inviting their kids? Are you allowing them to bring a guest? Make sure this is clear on the invitation so your guests don’t make plans based on an incorrect assumption. If they are confused, be prepared to explain why you have or haven’t extended the invitation to their children or date.

Don’t expect a gift. Yes, you’ve registered for gifts at a variety of prices to ensure that everyone can find something they can afford. But no, this doesn’t mean your guests are bound to buy you something. Whether they give you a gift or not, they should still get a thank you card after the wedding, though. After all, you are thanking them for being part of your big day, not for the new kitchen equipment!

To find out more about making sure your guests have a great time at your wedding, come speak to some of our area’s best wedding vendors. You can find them at any of our upcoming Connecticut bridal shows!

Don’t Forget the Wedding Day Details

Wedding day details can help transform your venue, and can make your guests even more impressed with what you’ve planned. Making sure all the little things are covered makes a big difference to the overall experience. Here are a few details that you shouldn’t forget.

  • Cake table: You’ve chosen the perfect cake, but will it just be placed on a boring table? Decorating the cake table, and having a gorgeous cake knife on display, will turn it into the centerpiece it deserves to be.
  • Escort cards: You can just have a basic diagram for where people sit, but there’s something extra special about escort cards that fit with your décor. They can also be combined with your wedding favors for a creative twist.
  • Hidden décor: When you set up your venue, don’t forget the bathrooms and bar! These are two areas your guests will be visiting, so tie them into your wedding with bouquets of flowers and other matched décor.

Whatever style wedding you’re planning, paying attention to the details can make your day even better. To give yourself time to work out the details, make the rest of your Connecticut wedding planning smoother by coming to our next show!

3 Things to Remember In Your Wedding Planning

As you get into your wedding planning, your mind will be pulled all over the place. You’ll consider the details of things you never thought you’d be interested in. But throughout the planning process, it can be a huge help to keep three key things in mind.

  1. Your budget. Your wedding budget needs to be kept in mind for every other decision. Before you choose a vendor, or even start meeting with vendors, know your budget and have an idea of what it will realistically get you.
  2. Your style. This will also help you find the right vendors for you, and keep you focused on the type of wedding you want to have. Whether it’s DIY, vintage, modern, or traditional, knowing the style you want can help you plan and decide on everything else.
  3. Your priorities. Is the ceremony more important than the reception, or vice versa? Is having a fabulous photo album at the end more important than serving a fancy meal, or vice versa? Knowing your priorities will help you know what not to worry about.

Whatever your budget, style, and priorities, you’ll need to work with excellent Connecticut wedding vendors to pull it all together. To meet great vendors and have a fun day, come to our next Wedding Steps Bridal Show!

Create a “Must Have” List for Your Wedding Day

As you plan your Connecticut wedding, you’ll probably have a list of things you want to include. The more you look for inspiration, the more things you’re likely to find, too. This is why creating a “must have” list for your wedding day can be very helpful.

Whether you’re doing the planning yourself or working with a wedding planner, a must have list is a handy reference. You’ll most likely be working on your plans for months, and this list can remind you what the most important aspects are.

This can come in very useful if there are any conflicts, such as available dates for different vendors. By having a short list of must have elements, you’ll know what you can compromise on, which will help reduce the stress of the decision.

Of course, another great way to reduce your wedding planning stress is to come to one of our bridal expos. You’ll be able to meet all the vendors you’ll need for your big day, and have lots of fun in the process!
