Tips for Your Bridal Show Visit

So you’re planning your wedding and you’re about to go to your first bridal show. What do you need to know to make it through the show and get the most out of it? Here are a few tips to get you through the show and through the planning process without a hitch.

The Size of the Show

Consider the size of the show you want to go to. Some of the larger “mega” type shows are in grand ballrooms at hotels and offer hundreds of vendors for you to browse through. This can also mean you can get lost in the shuffle and become quite overwhelmed at the sheer volume of ideas at the bridal expos. Smaller bridal fair locations can give you a more intimate feel and easier time of connecting with vendors on a personal level. Keep this in mind when you’re choosing what show to attend.

Prepare a Plan

Bring along a partner in crime with you to help you keep up with ideas you like and find along the way. Be sure that when you go to the bridal fair that you bring something such as a notebook or journal to keep your favorite ideas and notes jotted down in. This will help you later when you have time to relax and go through what you’ve found.

Know When to Go

You need to know when it’s time for you to leave and let your brain relax. Be sure you do not push yourself to stay at the bridal expo any longer than you can handle. When you’re not wanting to even think of the day any longer, it’s time to take a break from planning.

Keep these ideas in mind as you look for the upcoming CT bridal shows in the area.

What Should the Groom Do In Wedding Planning?

So much of wedding planning is focused on the bride. From choosing the perfect wedding dress to knowing what you want for the finer details of the decor, much of the work ends up with the bride. However, you shouldn’t rule your fiance out of wedding planning altogether.

While there are some parts that are obvious choices for him — the tuxedo he’ll wear, for instance — there are plenty of other aspects of the wedding that he may want input on. If your fiance wants to be involved in all parts of planning, you should let him. Working together on your wedding can be a good way to practice working together on other difficult things throughout the rest of your marriage!

However, if he really doesn’t want to get involved in the wedding planning, you shouldn’t force him. Whether this is because he doesn’t feel he has time for the work involved or just doesn’t find choosing flowers interesting, you shouldn’t take this as a bad sign. He wants to be married to you and have a great wedding, but he just doesn’t have the interest in event planning.

If you’re looking for ways to involve him, you can give him a task that he does like. This could be finding the entertainment or tasting menu options. You can also bring him to a wedding expo, where he might find that wedding planning is much more fun than he thought!

Choosing a Wedding Gown as a Mature Bride

With the average age of brides holding steady at 29 for the second year in a row, there are plenty of brides above this age getting married each year. For the mature bride, finding the perfect wedding gown can prove an extra challenge. You want something that suits your age, but still conveys the specialness of the day. Here are a few things to consider when choosing a wedding gown as a mature bride.

Style

Whether you want to go with a traditional gown or something a bit different, there are plenty of age-appropriate choices available. For gowns, consider narrower skirts, such as evening gown styles that will give you an elegant look. If you want to stay away from a gown, a pale colored suit is an excellent choice.

Color

As a mature bride, this might not be your first wedding. A wedding dress for a second wedding should follow the same guidelines as a gown for a first wedding. The most important thing is that you are comfortable in your choice. Whether you choose to wear white or another color is a personal decision. There are lots of beautiful off-white colors that can offer the best of both worlds, too.

Event

Whatever your age, the key to finding the perfect wedding gown is making sure it suits the wedding you’re planning. Keeping your dress in line with the wedding’s style is very important. As a mature bride, you’ll want to be comfortable throughout your big day, too. Consider the venue, type of reception, and how active you’ll be during your wedding day.

Whether you’re a mature bride or not, planning a Connecticut wedding is a big job. From finding the perfect dress to choosing a venue, you’ll be able to find out everything you need to know and meet our area’s best vendors when you attend a Wedding Steps bridal show. Did Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt Have a Secret Wedding?

According to the actress, the answer to the latest rumor about the couple is a firm no.

When Angelina Jolie went to the Democratic Republic of Congo on a humanitarian trip, she was spotted wearing a gold band rather than her diamond engagement ring. As soon as it was spotted, the rumors started flying that she and fiance Brad Pitt had managed to pull off a super-secret wedding.

However, upon her return to Los Angeles, she answered a question from a TMZ cameraman about the ring’s meaning. She said it was not a wedding band.

While Brad’s ex-wife, Jennifer Aniston, is set to get married this spring, it’s expected that Brangelina won’t be far behind. The current best guess is that they’re planning something for May, possibly at the home they own in the South of France.

With so much to put together for a wedding, Brad and Angelina might be busy the next few months. If you’re planning your Connecticut wedding, coming to a Wedding Steps bridal expo can make planning easy and fun!

Oscar Style Inspiration

Last night’s Oscars were full of style inspiration for your Connecticut wedding. Many of the gowns seemed like they could easily switch from red carpet to a wedding with almost no changes.

One of the best gowns was Jennifer Carpenter’s Dior Couture gown. The Best Actress winner wore a pale pink and white dress with a gorgeous layered look. It had a long fitted bodice that went softly into a mermaid-style skirt.

Another bridal-ready outfit was Amy Adams’ Oscar de la Renta gown. With a pale blue tone, the full, feathery skirt and sparkling bodice would be perfect for a spring or summer bride.

There were also plenty of dresses that would be great for the bridal party. With lots of red dresses on show, it might be the big color trend for the end of 2013.

Whether you loved Jennifer Carpenter’s dress or want something more unconventional, you’re certain to find plenty of bridal inspiration at our wedding shows. They include everything a Connecticut bride needs to plan her big day.

Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis engaged!

Actress Olivia Wilde and Saturday Night Live funnyman Jason Sudeikis have announced their engagement. Jason popped the question to Olivia over the holidays.

Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis

The couple, who have been dating since 2011 and living together since last year, haven’t said anything about their wedding plans yet, though it will no doubt be a great celebrity wedding to watch. Both Olivia and Jason are becoming big stars, with each having two movies coming out this year.

We don’t know what they’re planning, but if they’re like most newly engaged couples, they’re enjoying sharing the news with their friends and family. The couple frequently travel, both for work and pleasure, so they might even be scoping out wedding locations, too.

For most brides, attending a bridal show can be a great way to get a lot of planning done quickly. We’d love to see Olivia and Jason at one of our bridal shows. If you want to attend one, get in touch with more information about our next show!
