Last night’s Oscars were full of style inspiration for your Connecticut wedding. Many of the gowns seemed like they could easily switch from red carpet to a wedding with almost no changes.

One of the best gowns was Jennifer Carpenter’s Dior Couture gown. The Best Actress winner wore a pale pink and white dress with a gorgeous layered look. It had a long fitted bodice that went softly into a mermaid-style skirt.

Another bridal-ready outfit was Amy Adams’ Oscar de la Renta gown. With a pale blue tone, the full, feathery skirt and sparkling bodice would be perfect for a spring or summer bride.

There were also plenty of dresses that would be great for the bridal party. With lots of red dresses on show, it might be the big color trend for the end of 2013.

Wedding Planning Tips

Olympic figure skater Michelle marries

Two-time US Olympic figure skater medal winner Michelle Kwan married her Coast Guard fiance in Rhode Island this weekend. Lt. Clay Pell and Michelle tied the knot at the 200 year old First Unitarian Church in Providence where they had invited 250 guests.

Kwan, who was in tears while walking down the aisle, wore an ivory, strapless Vera Wang wedding dress with scalloped hemline. The designer has made many of the skater’s dresses in the past.

Her husband, aged 31, is a director for strategic planning on the National Security staff at the White House and a Lieutenant in the US Coast Guard (whose full dress uniform he wore for the ceremony).

Kwan, 32, has won more ice skating medals for America than anyone in history. Her accolades include a silver medal at the 1998 Winter Olympics, and a bronze at the 2002 Winter Games.

Get a Wonderful Wedding Cake

When it comes to your wedding day, the cake maybe isn’t the most time-consuming item to sort out – but it’s certainly important to the extent that you want to get it absolutely right.

So how do you go about ensuring your cake – set to appear in hundreds of wedding day photos of your big day – is absolutely right for you?

Checklist for Your Wedding Cake

Make a scrap book of photographs of cakes you admire and keep referring to them to see which cake you like best. Try and picture this with your chosen color scheme and theme
If all of the above work, then it’s time to alert the individual who is preparing the cake for you. Try and give them as much notice as possible (after all, if they’re good they are going to be pretty booked up anyhow)
Don’t just stick to traditional cake flavors. You really can have any flavor you like, you know. It’s your big day. Cinammon, lemon, mint – they’re all there for the taking!

Celebs Talk Weddings…

Matt Langer and Shenae Grimes, both hot star from Californian show 90210 are getting excited about their forthcoming nuptials – even though Grimes only got engaged last month!

Both actors were overheard at a big get-together recently, discussing wedding planning topics such as themes, colors and locations. See – the stars are just like us!

Lanter, 29, and girlfriend Angela Stacy are set to wed in fall 2013 while Grimes, 23, hasn’t made any concrete plans yet – far as we know – with musician Josh Beech.

Lanter, told US Weekly magazine recently that he was plunged into indecision over the choice of colors for his wedding and other “crazy details.”

Incidentally, keep watching the show for a possible rekindled romance between the pair whose characters dated in a show’s past life.
